Meet Miss K:
Welcome to my digital hub. I am a first-year teacher candidate at the University of Ottawa who is passionate about supporting children and youth through inclusive, relationship-centered education. This space captures my journey as a developing educator — my growth, reflections, and commitment to creating meaningful learning experiences for students.
I bring with me five years of experience as a Registered Early Childhood Educator, after graduating from Algonquin College in 2018, as well as an Honours Bachelor of Childhood and Youth Studies from Carleton University (2024). These experiences deeply shape my teaching philosophy. They have taught me that learning is relational, developmentally responsive, and grounded in trust.
My practice aligns with the Ontario College of Teachers’ Standards of Practice and Ethical Standards. I am committed to being an ethical, knowledgeable, and caring professional who fosters safe, inclusive learning environments and supports every student’s growth and dignity.
This hub reflects who I am becoming as an educator — someone who believes in students, learns alongside them, and strives to make school a place where every child feels seen, valued, and capable.

About Miss K:
I am a dedicated educator who believes that strong relationships are the foundation of learning. My background in Early Childhood Education has shaped my understanding that each child develops uniquely and deserves learning experiences that honour their strengths, needs, and voice.
I value collaboration with families and caregivers and believe that open, respectful communication between home and school is essential for student success. I approach teaching with care, curiosity, and a commitment to ongoing learning.
As an educator, I strive to:
-
create spaces where students feel safe, respected, and empowered
-
support independence through thoughtful scaffolding
-
model kindness, integrity, and professionalism
-
remain reflective and responsive in my practice
-
learn continuously from my students and colleagues

A gentle approach with firm boundaries
I describe my teaching style as gentle, yet underpinned by firm, clear boundaries. My background as a Registered Early Childhood Educator for about five years taught me that students learn best when they feel comfortable, safe, and have secure attachments. Building strong relationships with families and students is paramount; it helps them feel secure and allows me to understand how best to scaffold and support their individual learning journeys. As someone with ADHD myself, I'm committed to creating a classroom atmosphere that is calming, comfortable, and welcoming for all. I envision a variety of comfortable seating options, allowing students to choose the space that best supports their focus. Fidget toys and other supportive materials will be readily available to aid concentration and support the diverse learning needs within my classroom.

Cultivating a home away from home
My goal is for my classroom to be a true "home away from home," a place that reflects my students and makes them feel a strong sense of belonging. I want them to invest in their learning environment, taking care of it as they would their own space. This means fostering a strong sense of respect and kindness towards one another. At the beginning of the year, we'll collaboratively establish classroom boundaries and rules, ensuring that students have a genuine stake in creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable and respected. This shared ownership helps set a positive tone for a year of engaged and joyful learning at MissK'sDigitalHub.com.
